In Autodesk Revit, users can enter exact measurements while sketching by typing a value after starting a line. This feature, known as listening dimensions, helps create precise geometry without the need to adjust it later.
Listening dimensions typically display linear measurements, such as the length of a line, the chord length of an arc, or the radius of a circle or polygon. When no linear dimension is available, users can enter an angular dimension if applicable. However, listening dimensions are not available for certain shapes like splines or rectangles.
To use listening dimensions:
- Begin sketching a line.
Note: Listening dimensions appear in blue or bold black text. - Type the desired length value.
- Press Enter.
Revit will automatically draw the line to the specified length, allowing for fast and accurate modeling during the sketching process.
